For the first time in a decade, Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA) is raising the fees it charges to evaluate, register, and license medical devices. The increases, announced in August, are already beginning to take effect. Ranging from $1 to $200 per item, the fees are scheduled to be fully implemented by April 2019.
For Class B, C, and D medical devices, for example, administrative fees will rise from $500 to $515 per item. Technical changes for Class B and C devices will be charged a fee of $1,750, which is $50 more than the current charge of $1,700. But Class D devices, which generally carry more risk, will be charged $2,880 for technical changes. That is $80 more than the technical change fees levied on them today.
