Moving to further strengthen the safety management of medical devices that are implanted into the human body, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety is instituting a new tracking system called – “Implanted Medical Device Safety Information Check System” – which will go into effect in November.
The system is expected to track the process of implantable medical devices, starting from when they are released from the factories until they are surgically implanted into the human body. By doing so, the system will enable effective monitoring and retrieval of defective implantable devices and devices with harmful side effects. In addition, implantable products’ safety information will be available on the system for consumers to view.
