The Indonesian government is getting closer to opening its popular online catalog of licensed medical devices for submissions for the first time since 2018. Inclusion in the catalog is considered key to successful sales in the country.
The online purchasing system, hailed since its inception for growing the transparency and efficiency of medical device procurement, has not accepted applications for two years. The Indonesian Government Goods and Services Procurement Organization (LKKP), which created the catalog in 2014, had hoped to open enrollment for inclusion in the catalog by the end of 2020. But it now says it will begin accepting applications for more than 1,400 categories of products after Jan. 1, 2021.
Potential applicants should prepare key materials now that are needed to apply. Those include product brochures, import licenses, invoices, and signed letters of authorization and distributor agreements between the foreign manufacturer and the Indonesian Import License holder. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, applications will be processed for the first time entirely through the online portal.
